Television Audience Estimates
New York — March 2, 2022 — An estimated 38.2 million people tuned in to watch coverage of the U.S. Presidential State of the Union address during primetime on Tuesday, March 1, 2022. This represents President Biden’s first State of the Union address while in office and his second address to a joint session of Congress.
While coverage varied by network, 16 networks aired live coverage from approximately 9:09 p.m. ET to 10:10 p.m. ET. The chart below highlights the sum of the average viewing audience for these networks. It’s important to note that out-of-home (OOH) viewing as well as connected TV (CTV) viewing are included in the 2022 total figures for this television ratings advisory. Contribution coming from CTVs can be as much as 13% for televised political events.
