– News.com.au retains top place in Nielsen digital news rankings- Top four news entities ranking remained consistent

Sydney, Australia – 23 November 2017: October 2017 digital news rankings released today by Nielsen revealed there was no change to the top four news entities when compared with the prior month. News.com.au (5.9 million, -3%) was followed by ABC News Websites (4.9 million, -5%), nine.com.au (4.6 million, +6%) and smh.com.au (4.3 million,+10%).

In comparison with September 2017, there was some movement in the ranking order for the next six news rankings. The Guardian (2.8 million, +7%) jumped from eighth to fifth place, followed by Daily Mail Australia (2.8 million, +2%), which remained in sixth place. Yahoo7 News Websites (2.8 million, -9%) moved back to the previously held seventh place from fifth place in September, followed by The Daily Telegraph (2.5 million, +13%) who jumped from tenth place to eighth place. Next, was Herald Sun (2.5 million, -9%) who dropped from seventh to ninth and BBC (2.3 million, +3%) which moved into tenth place from ninth place.
