Nielsen Enters the Hall of Fame as One of the Best Companies for Women in India

Nov. 06, 2020 – Nielsen has been recognised for the fifth consecutive year in 2020 as one of the 100 Best Companies for Women in India for its continuous efforts on gender inclusion in the workplace.

Touted to be one of the most prestigious recognition for diversity and inclusion in India by The Working Mother Research Institute and AVTAR, this achievement positions Nielsen among select 100 companies that are featured in the ‘Hall of Fame’. This year, 321 companies participated in the fifth successive edition of the Best Companies for Women in India (BCWI) study which was conducted by Avtar and Working Mother Media. Participating companies were assessed across various benchmarks, such as workforce profile, recruitment practices, retention and advancement, benefits, safety and security, and management accountability.

On the hiring and recruitment front, Nielsen’s People Operations team recently conducted a drive wherein applications for open positions were invited from diverse groups including people with disability (PWD), pride, military veterans and women candidates. Nielsen emphasizes parity and providing equal opportunities through a fair and transparent recruitment process that reflects in the gender ratio at Nielsen. For example, Nielsen considers at least two female candidates for all leadership levels before making an offer. While career gaps due to various reasons could pose as an obstacle for many women, Nielsen ensures that the right candidate with the right career goals are welcomed to be a part of our organization. 

The organisation is committed to maintaining a sensitive work environment to support employees through important life-changing milestones like maternity and child adoption, therefore reasonable flexibility is provided in terms of working hours, leave extensions. Nielsen also supports with a no-cost maternity coaching that is provided through a tie-up arrangement with an expert third-party service provider. About Women in Nielsen (WIN) WIN is Nielsen’s employee resource group (ERG) that focuses on career development, mentoring, personal wellbeing and development of women associates has been leading efforts to nurture women employees.
