Nielsen’s UAE Radio Audience Measurement second-quarter 2019 data release shows that radio listening remains high across the country. In the second quarter of 2019, 92% of the total UAE population aged 10 and above tuned into radio every week, which is slightly less than the previous quarter, but is on par with second-quarter 2018 listening levels.
Nielsen’s UAE Radio Audience Measurement, which measures listenership for 51 radio stations across the country among all individuals aged 10+, revealed that even though the quarter started off with a couple of weeks of spring break as well as during Ramadan and Eid al Fitr holidays, an increase in listeners in Sharjah and similar levels in Abu Dhabi helped maintain strong listenership. Abu Dhabi remains the strongest Emirate for radio listening, where radio reach was almost 100% similar to the first quarter of the year, with listeners clocking 5 hours 47 minutes of listening each week.
Data from the second quarter also highlights that radio reaches more listeners between 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. than in the morning.
