2 minute read | August 2016

New York – Aug. 18, 2016 – Nielsen (NYSE: NLSN) today announced that Bahakel Communications, a leading media company that owns and operates 14 television and radio stations across the U.S., has signed a multiyear agreement for Nielsen’s Local Television Measurement. Bahakel has renewed Nielsen services for stations in all five of their television markets including Montgomery, AL; Jackson, TN; Columbia, SC; Myrtle Beach, SC; and Charlotte, NC.

The renewal provides Bahakel Nielsen’s local TV ratings data, which gives them a complete view of their performance and that of other broadcasters. Additionally, the agreement provides Bahakel stations access to tools that arm them with insight into consumer viewing, purchasing habits and ad sales data. Each station now has the opportunity to leverage products such as Nielsen Local TV (NLTV), Nielsen Scarborough and Ad Intel to make more informed business decisions while better optimizing their commercial inventory.

“Nielsen’s local measurement products, qualitative services and dedication to enhancing their capabilities helped us conclude that they are the best in this business and have the leading solution for our sales and programming efforts,” said Jim Babb, chief operating officer, Bahakel. “We are excited to continue this relationship to see the growth and opportunity their insights will provide us and help us win in the marketplace.”

“We are delighted to support Bahakel Communications and their efforts to bring compelling and unique advertising insights to their advertising partners,” said Jeff Wender, managing director, Local Client Solutions, Nielsen. “This agreement supplies Bahakel with the tools they need to more effectively compete in their markets, capture more ad dollars and deliver higher ROI to their advertisers. We value and look forward to continuing our long-standing relationship.”
