Nielsen Connects Performance Objectives to an Inclusive and Impactful Culture

2 minute read | January 2020

At Nielsen, building and growing a culture of inclusion and impact is part of everyone’s day-to-day responsibilities. Across all functions and geographies, we are committed to ensuring that Nielsen operates responsibly and sustainably while remaining an employer of choice and a trusted partner for clients and other stakeholders.

In order to take a step forward in recognizing the many associates who contribute their time, talents and energy to support Nielsen’s drive to be inclusive and to make a positive impact on the communities where we live and work, we recently added this expectation as a formal part of our annual performance review process for all Nielsen associates globally.

We understand that there are myriad ways that these commitments could show up in our Nielsen employee experience, and we value the associates who take both formal volunteer roles as well as more informal steps to contribute. These opportunities include actively considering inclusion in the way that we engage our teams and through our hiring processes, as well as more formal leadership opportunities, such as our Inclusion Impact Teams that align our Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), Nielsen Cares and Nielsen Green efforts in a comprehensive, employee-driven program for sustained impact across all dimensions of our culture and how we operate as a corporate citizen. As of December 2019, we’ve had 65% of our global associates share their achievements and future aspirations in terms of how they are committed to growing their careers while helping drive an inclusive and impactful culture.

“We recognize that inclusion helps us create a healthy organizational culture, contributes positively in our communities, and has a beneficial effect on our associates who seek to deepen their skills and grow their careers with us,” said Nicole Helprin, Senior Vice President of Talent Engagement and Development, Nielsen. “We embrace our associates’ diverse approaches to this essential effort.”

We are committed to continually evolving our performance review processes to maximize engagement and ensure that all of our associates have an opportunity to develop to their fullest potential.
