Nielsen Recognized as One of the Best Companies for Women In India

2 minute read | December 2017

For the second year in a row, The Working Mother Research Institute and AVTAR has recognized Nielsen as one of the “100 Best Companies for Women in India.”

The list, which is a joint effort presented by both organizations, honors the top 100 companies who are leaders in the recruitment, retention and advancement of women in corporate India. It is compiled based on data collected and compared across several key areas including flexible hours, women’s recruitment and retention, benefits, paid time off and company culture.

Our WIN (Women in Nielsen) employee resource group (ERGs) is at the center of our internal women’s initiatives in India—focusing on mentorship, leadership and career development and personal well being. This year, more than 130 female associates in India have participated in leadership training programs and nearly 60 have participated in mentoring activities.

“Leveraging our ERGs to engage with associates throughout the talent life cycle is a fundamental priority for each group,” said Sherri Dublin, VP, Diversity Programs and Nielsen’s global ERG leader.  “We are proud of how the team in India is connecting and using WIN as a resource to engage all of our employees.”

WIN in India leads several initiatives—specific to gender inclusion—that promote a more agile workplace and encouraging work-life balance. WIN associates participate in recruitment and networking activities including speed mentoring sessions, and they work to engage and appoint diverse suppliers and vendors. Professional development webinars, community outreach and additional diversity training and awareness courses are also offered to WIN associates.

“Embracing diversity is not a destination, but a journey,” said Radhika Chandok, Chief Diversity Officer, Nielsen South Asia. “Women in Nielsen is an initiative that we have undertaken as a first step in offering our women colleagues a safe environment with opportunities that are equally available to them irrespective of their stage in life or personal commitments. We have achieved a milestone in driving this agenda through the consistent efforts of a team of leaders across locations and departments. And these leaders have been highly focused on making Nielsen a preferred employer for our diverse colleagues.”
